I was literally speechless while speaking with the managing editor of Southwest Art Magazine when she told me that they would like to do a feature article of my work.  A feature article in a prestigious magazine is a pivotal point in an artists career.  This happens only after an incredible amount of time 'behind the brushes' and from the support and enthusiasm from those who love art.  I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Southwest Art Magazine, to ALTAMIRA FINE ART, to The Gerald Peters Gallery, to Trio Fine Art, to the collectors of my art and to my friends and family.  Art is not created in a vacuum and my work would not be where it is now without you.

ALTAMIRA FINE ART Exhibit

I am excited to share that the recent exhibit has been a success and is still up at ALTAMIRA.  If you are in Jackson and would like to see it please do so as it will be taken down this Monday the 29th.  Enclosed are a few paintings in the exhibit that I was not able to include in the last post.

western art & architecture, c-quito, the legacy galleries scottsdale holiday exhibit & charcoal studies

hello everyone!  

it has been an amazing few months of weather... that said, winter is just around the corner with temperatures dropping and flurries of snow on the back deck as i write.   

october was busy with excitement about an article in western art & architecture, commissions, charcoal studies, and a painting for legacy's scottsdale holiday exhibit.

below is the art that came out of the studio this month...my elves were hard at work :)

a commissioned portrait of a belgian warmblood stallion named c-quito.  he is an incredible athlete..... in 2010, he was fifth nationally in the 

regular confirmation hunters showing only 11 weeks and in 2011 he has already won 3 USHJA hunter derbies. it is an honor to be in his presence and to watch him move.  more information and videos are available on the link to his website below:

in addition to the c-quito portrait a piece to be part of the legacy gallery's holiday small work show was completed, titled 'afternoon rivers'.  the exhibit will be on display starting with a reception on december 8th from 7 - 9 at the legacy gallery in scottsdale, arizona.  all works will be sold by draw. 'afternoon rivers' is a painting of horses on the crane creek ranch, which is on the snake river, in jackson, wyoming.  the pattern of light on their backs stopped me in my tracks and had to be painted.  for more information contact the legacy gallery at the below link:

the third 'first friday' post: southwest art magazine, fall arts, commissions, and a puppy!

hello everyone....

this has been a busy month of commissions and training a puppy so there is not much to post image wise but news to share....

southwest art article:

southwest art has done a feature story on 'birds in art' which is currently at the leigh yawkey woodson museum in wasau, wisconsin.  they have highlighted six paintings and my painting  'two is a pair', which was purchased by the national museum of wildlife art last fall, is amongst those chosen.

the first 'first friday' post! - gratitude, 'cowboys & indians', & orchids

hello and welcome to the first 'first friday' post for this new blog!  i am laughing at myself as it is actually saturday and i am in the throes of preparing for an exhibit so I have not been able to get this post out until now.  please bear with me as there will be another post with the final paintings for the exhibit in a few days.  in the future there will only be one post a month to honor minimal amounts of social media.  this post is about gratitude, 'cowboys and indians', and orchids. 

first and foremost is gratitude.  my heart is filled with gratitude to you.  each and every person who enjoys the work that i create is part of a continuum of creativity.  mother teresa said that "the ocean is made up of tiny drops".  in this same manner, all my work is fueled by each person who connects with the paintings.  so thank you, these paintings would not exist without you.

i never tire of painting the light and texture in the petals of orchids (and they hold still a lot longer than horses :)...). 

below is a favorite quote by georgia o'keeffe...

"i found that i could say things with color and shape that i couldn't say any other way - things that i had no words for..."

i concur with mrs. o'keeffe and so titled these paintings in her honor.
